Evening in homage to Fernand Schirren

To mark the re-publication of Le Rythme primordial et souverain, Contredanse, in conjunction with Charleroi/Danses, is organising an evening in homage to the author of this core work, the Belgian composer, musician and teacher Fernand Schirren who died in 2001. For the launch of this second edition, which is accompanied by a CD from the archives, a group of people such as the likes of Thierry De Mey will be coming together. All of them have been strongly influenced by this man who trained generations of dancers, choreographers and musicians, either at Mudra or at P.A.R.T.S. A film by Boris Lehman showing Schirren will be screened for the first time. In parallel with this homage, a course on rhythm is being held throughout the week at La Raffinerie.
