Le Sous-sol is the final part of the trilogy. The characters encountered in Le Jardinand Le Salonare already dead and buried. The family lives in the dark and obscure background. A universe is created, without, however, confirming the familiar imagery of paradise or hell. The characters portrayed in this utopian underground world take part in open dialogue, the complete opposite of what we might have expected of them. They are all on the same level, none of them has the right to any promotion. The situational humour creates an important contrast. In Le Sous–sol, Peeping Tom brings the ancestors into play even more forcefully than before. These elderly characters are presented and integrated into the production in a light-hearted way, a considerable contrast to the present miserable existence of the Third Age.Le Sous–solis het laatste luik van de trilogie. De personages die we in Le Jardinen Le Salonontmoetten, zijn nu dood en begraven. Het gezin leeft op de achtergrond, somber en obscuur. Er is een universum geschapen dat afwijkt van het vertrouwde beeld van de hel of het paradijs. De personages die in deze utopische kelderverdieping vertoeven gaan geheel tegen de verwachting in op een heel directe wijze met elkaar een dialoog aan. Ze bevinden zich allen op eenzelfde niveau, geen van hen heeft recht op promotie. De situationele humor vormt een belangrijk contrapunt. In Le Sous–sollaat Peeping Tom onze voorouders nog sterker tussenbeide komen dan tevoren. Deze personages-op-leeftijd worden op een ludieke wijze voorgesteld en geïntegreerd in de voorstelling, wat scherp contrasteert met het feitelijke miserabele bestaan van bejaarden.
